Joseph Parsons: home

Welcome Photo

Hi Everyone,

A great 2009!  Hell of a year starting off with the birth of our son. And now he's one year old.  Absolutely crazy and absolutely amazing!

Even with, I was able to get to some cool new places in 2009. On the Spring European Solo tour in Austria, Germany, Holland & UK.  Then the 'US Rails' were able to do a run of shows in the East Coast USA (we're coming back!!) Then the summer came and it was time to plan a wedding in & around touring in the US and traveling with the family.  And what a wedding we had in New Jersey.  Seemed the world descended on our little beach town to celebrate with us.  Was a perfect day.

Then the Fall came with the release of a new double live CD called 'Slaughterhouse Live' - it was recorded in an old slaughterhouse in Southern Germany.  And a band tour to support it.  Sven, Freddi, Ross, Flicker and I had a great time, thanks for bringing us to your cities, towns, villages, dorfs & hamlets!

And now it's 2010. Time to think about things and start new projects.  Right now it's snowing a lot which is the only way I like Winter.  If it's cold, it might as well snow.  I am taking some time off from touring to write and get back to the heart of my music. It's been a while since I had the space. I will also take the year off from touring in Germany and will try to focus on the USA & other European countries I would like to be touring in. I've been able to get to Italy, Spain & the UK a couple times before but want to come back this year. France is a bit of an enigma for me. I've played a bunch over the years but have never really nailed it and found the base of support.  Some folks say I need to play more of my bluesy songs, we'll see :)  Skandinavia has also been on my list. Great press for my last CD, 'Heavens Above', but have not found an agent or really put the energy into it I'd like.  And then there is the USA.  I am looking for a record deal or to partner up with a label to release my CD's.  I miss playing in the states and hope to more and more.

If you know me, you know that there are always 'things' in the oven cooking along.  Maybe US Rails, Parsons Thibaud, new JP recording, and maybe something even stranger…you just never know.

So my adieu to you and yours and I wish you a great 2010!  Keep in touch and see you down the road.

Peace,

Joseph

The title track is a stand-out, but the string-laden
"Children In The Sun" and the limpid "Anyone" are even better.

'Heaves Above' is the sound of a man star
ing at the chaos
of the world and longing to find peace within it.
